Its now rumored that Microsoft is buying facebook for a splendid deal of 6 billion dollars. Henry Blodget says that while he can’t confirm it, he has definitely heard that Steve Ballmer is desperately trying to make a big splash play to counter Google in the internet game.
Though the cost of the platform does vary. In 2007 Microsoft proposed to pay 240 million dollars in USD for buying facebook, but now its increased to 6 billion due to the rise in number of users. Whatever be the cost, it is official, but unfixed.

Rumors had swirled of late that Google was also wooing Facebook, but Microsoft finally won out. In fact, Google signed its own exclusive advertising deal with social networking leader MySpace last year.
Unlike other platforms, this actually seems to be a good deal to microsoft as the one thing Microsoft lacks is a social networking site. Though Windows Live Spaces may allow some things, Microsoft needs a platform such as facebook for allowing its users to interact in real time.
Now it appears Microsoft has purchased facebook, but they did not insert the Copyright By Microsoft. Facebook is a separate company owned by Microsoft, and has its own copyright.
The question is, what can we expect when Microsoft tweaks facebook ?
Here’s some ideas of what may happen:
- Integration of Silverlight technology
- Advancement in Facebook Coding (FBML, xFBML, iFrame, etc.)
- Refined Design

- Rights to Microsoft
