Organize Your Desktop Icons in Windows using Fences
by Siddartha on March 15, 2010

Fences is a program that helps you organize your desktop, and can hide your icons when they’re not in use.
A “Fence”, a term coined by this program, is an icon group on your desktop.
Fences is an add-on to your desktop, not a replacement.
I have installed this
software today, my friend told me about its use, its really a useful
software that helps you to align the folders/files of same category in a single fence.
We can also hide the icons when they are not in use, so that our desktop will be clean, but if your want to use them, just double click on the desktop.
Your desktop by creating shaded areas which become movable and sizable containers for your icons. Double click blank spaces on your desktop and all your fences will fade out, and back.
How to use it?
- Its just a simple software to use, no need to read manuals.
- Just right click your mouse and drag it to certain extent (hold the mouse button).
- A fence will be created, name it and then drag the files/folders that you want to place in that fence.
- One more good thing with this is, can hide your icons when they are not in use, so that our desktop will be clean, but if your want to use them, just double click on the desktop so that your desktop will be to its original state.
It is available in 2 forms :
- Fences Pro ( 19.95$ )
- Fences ( free )
System Requirements :
- Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP.
- On Vista and Windows 7, both 32bit and 64bit versions are supported.
- Impulse must be installed in order to download and update software.
Features :
- Create an unlimited number of Fence areas on your desktop
- Quickly hide/show your desktop icons with a double click
- Customize the color and opacity of your fences
- Low profile, low system impact: Integrates tightly and cleanly with OS
