Microsoft to launch Windows7 by year-end

Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be released no later than January 2010, although it is expected that it may be out well before that. The eagerly awaited OS is awaited by many after a very successful beta launch conducted in January of this year.
According to the article at ITPro, Laurence Painell, Windows OEM and WGA marketing manager stated the following to ITPro:
“We made a promise that we would release Windows 7 no later than three years after Vista. This gives us until January 2010 and we are confident it will be released by then, if not earlier.”

Lines up other products including Azure services platform and VSTS 2010 at India.
Software giant Microsoft is gearing up to release the next version of its operating system, Windows 7, by the end of the current year and has plans to release the final product of Windows Server 2008 R2, already available as release candidate, in the same timeframe.

Mr. Ballmer explained about the features of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 as well as other products lined up, including the Azure services platform and VSTS 2010, which are set to democratise the applications lifecycle development.
“Windows 7 is everything that Vista should have been,” said analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group in Silicon Valley.“It makes sense that Microsoft should have it pre-Christmas,”
