Internet Explorer 8 is not one of the best version released by Microsoft. It lacks many important things like the quick browsing capability, responds lately, Many sites were built for IE7 and may not run properly with IE8. So Internet Explorer 8 is estimated to be one of the average product from Microsoft. Initially I am a devoted IE user before IE8 but when I have installed IE8 in my system, i found it but irritating. I rather liked to browse in IE7 which is much comfortable than IE8.
So Is it possible to remove Internet Explorer 8 from your system?
The answer is yes. Yes you can remove IE8 from your system and Once the uninstall is complete, you’ll have your old version of Internet Explorer back again.
Here is a simple procedure to remove IE8 from your computer.
Windows XP and Windows 2003
- Select Start.
- Navigate through Control Panel.
- Click on Add/Remove programs.
- Select Windows IE8 and Remove it and follow the prompts.
- When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
Windows Vista
- Select Start.
- Type Programs and Features and type Enter.
- Click View installed updates in the left pane.
- Double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.
- In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.
- When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
Windows 7
- Close all programs.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
- In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
- You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.
- Internet Explorer 8 will now be uninstalled.
- The system will restart after the installation.
After doing this a pop-up warning may interrupt you, telling that “The following programs were installed on your computer after Internet Explorer 8″ and may not work after the uninstall. Dont worry, continue your job.
You may have to run Windows Update afterwards and redo some security updates, but it’s unlikely you’ll have to reinstall any applications.
Note: You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
