How to Run Microsoft Motocross Madness 2 on Windows 7 and Vista

by Sandeep on February 15, 2010

Motocross Madness is one of the game that has rocked the box office in the early 2000′s. But after the evolution on windows latest Operating systems its been bit difficult to run them out. I found the process to run them in Windows Vista/7.

Motocross Madness requires a *.dll file named d3drm.dll . You might face this problem when you attempt to start the game in Windows 7 and Windows Vista Operating Systems. All you have to do is download this *.dll file and paste it in the installation path of the game. If this doesn’t work, Try uninstalling and re-installing the game.

After re-installing right click on the game icon and click on Troubleshoot Compatibility. Click on Try Recommended settings and Windows XP SP 2 settings would be applied and then click on Start the Program.

How would i come to know that where the game is going to be installed because i m unable to run the setup…. when i run setup.exe it prompts an empty message box with OK button and upon pressing OK setup is closed.. however i have copied that dll in system32 as well as in motocross madness folder from where i am accessing the setup…

I have Windows 7 Home premium, having bought a new computer to replace my old Windows XP one which was on its way out.

When i try and install MCM2 nothing happens, i put the CD in and tell it to run and i get nowhere.

As far as i can tell should i get the game to install the fix suggested here will work, but literally nothing happens when i try and install it from the CD, i get the popup box to run setup.exe (if i recall the file name correctly) and from there nothing, computer doesn’t freeze or anything, it just fails to do anything.

If anyone has found a fix for this it would be greatly appreciated. I was going to try using Microsofts Virtual PC to run XP, however this is only available to Windows 7 Professional users and up, and i don’t wish to pay to upgrade to get a game ive already bought to run.

Any help is appreciated

@Umar & @Ben Seems like you both are having the same problem. Will check a solution and mail them to you.

@EvilGod – This should be your Installation Path – C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Motocross Madness 2\

The game started up for me ok, but once it had finished loading, an error message popped up saying “MCM2 has stopped working” tried troubleshooting and re-opening, but all I get is a blank screen. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!

@Scaramouge: I only have 2 gigs o’ ram… :s And it still comes up a blank screen, or with the “stopped working” message… I fear the worst.

I also have the .dll file required. So that’s covered. What can I do? I used to love this game, and not being able to play it is heartbreaking!
