Forgot your Password in Windows XP? No problem. Don’t Panic! Do the things in the step wise manner. We’ll discuss two methods here. One is the direct method for Recovering Password, other is an alternate method to take precautions by creating Password Recovery Disks.
How to do this?
METHOD 1
- Start your computer and Insert Windows XP CD.
- After completing the Documentation, it shows three options. Format, Repair, Exit.
- Choose Repair by pressing R.
- The Repair process Starts Now and then it asks for Restarting your PC within 15 seconds.
- After Restarting your Computer, the Repair process still continues.
- Keep your eye on the Processes which are being carried.
- At a certain time you can see “INSTALLING DEVICES” then immediately press SHIFT + F10.
- A dialog box appears, then type “NUSRMGR.CPL” this is security hole. This opens the User Accounts Settings. Now you can remove your password.
- You are done!!
METHOD 2
As we all know, “Prevention is better than cure” Create a Password Reset disk also.
HOW TO CREATE?
Requirements: A blank formatted Floppy.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
- In the User Accounts pane, click the account that you want to work with.
- Under Related Tasks, click Prevent a forgotten password to start the Forgotten Password Wizard, and then click Next.
- Insert a blank, formatted disk into drive A, and then click Next.
- In the Current user account password box, type the password for the user account that you chose in step 3, and then click Next.
Note If the user account does not have a password, do not type a password in the Current user account password box.
The Forgotten Password Wizard creates the disk.
- When the Progress bar reaches 100% complete, click Next, and then click Finish.
- Remove and then label the password reset disk. Store the disk in a safe place.
You are done!!
