Does 4 GB RAM work with Windows XP?

Do you want to upgrade your computer’s memory?
I’ve have 2 GB RAM to my PC. Today I have tested whether 4GB RAM works with Windows XP(32 bit) or not. Experimentally when you insert the 4 GB RAM, It takes only upto 3.25 GB of the memory. So 4GB RAM’s cannot work with XP

While it comes in the case of 64bit, it supports more than 4GB.
