Submitting a blog/website to Google is the major task for any website to get indexed. If your website is indexed in Google, your work is done more than 60%.
Here are the Steps that you should follow for submitting your website to Google
- Sign into Google Webmaster Tools.
- Click on Add a Site and enter the URL of your website or blog you wish to add and then click on continue.
- Verify your site by using meta tag by placing that in <head> section of <body> in your template or else by using the HTML file by placing it in root folder of you website.
- Finally, Click on verify after finishing the process.

- Yahoo Sitemaps is usefed if you want your blog/website to get indexed completely in Yahoo Search Engine.

- And then submit your site feed, for submitting Click on Submit Site Feed and enter the sitemap of your blog.

Here are the Steps that you should follow for submitting your website to Yahoo.
- Submit your blog/website to Bing here.
- After that, enter your website details (your website/blog’s address) and the fill the CAPTCHA correctly and then click on submit.
- Then a notification will be given to you. If you are interested to Submit another website, click on submit another website else click on return to bing.

You need not submit you site to search engines because they will eventually find you. They crawl the web for latest sites and even SEO experts believe by submitting you’ll only end up wasting your time.
@shashank you are right, this works for new blogs. Unless we install Google Sitemaps nd webmaster tools, we can’t predict our future. SO, its not about wasting time, but its having its own benifits, which im going to reveal in my future articles

recently i went through a site that stated that search traffic from google was 91% , rest google and bing.
Submitting your site is good but as the commenter shashank mention the crawlers or spiders will always index your website however using those tools mentioned like google webmaster tool to get verified is something i strongly recommend Thanks for the share.

Hi Siddartha, submitting an XML Sitemap through Google Webmaster Tools will definitely put your website on Googlebot’s radar. Another way to facilitate crawl and indexation is to build links from other websites to yours.

Well these were the top 3 search engines but I donot find a good reason not to target the small fraction of people who uses other search engine like ask.com

Just submitting your site with search engine won’t give you guarantee for the site inclusion in to that. You need submit your sitemap with webmaster tool and to build some quality backlink also.
