      • Siddartha says:

@Anish Yup Skype is Probably the Best VIOP service, but these mentioned services are framed on point of services which are cheap and loads faster.

    7. I’ve used Google Talk in the past for voip calls and was lately introduced to Skype after that. But after since I’ve started using Skype, I havent looked in to other services as I am quite used to Skype now!

      Good list BTW :)

    8. swetha says:

    9. Very useful information about VoIp.
Voip is mew era of communication technology.

      Beat that price Skype!

    13. FaceFlow says:

I like Skype for making landline calling, but for video calling, I started using FaceFlow, which is a good alternative to Skype. It also offers free video conferencing which will be a paid feature on Skype, as it is on ooVoo too. You can check out a video about it on http://www.faceflow.com/skype-alternative
I also like the way Google is evolving with their services, especially because everything is directly on the web. In my opinion, desktop programs will see a decreasing popularity trend compared to web applications.

    14. Keith says:

Big minus for Skype is their Dualphone won´t work with Windows 7. The Dual is the best phone on the market for ordinary telefony too – now it´s going to be redundant.

    15. Ash Flight says:

I personally like skype for it’s ease of use and for the fact most of my friends and colleagues are signed up to it. The problem with smaller/less popular programs like ichat is that not many people are signed up to them, in comparison to programs like skype.

However, knowing how trends go, I would not be surprised, that if all of my contacts moved over to an alternative, so would I.

      Ash

    16. Stevy says:

I’m using Gtalk from time to time, but since all my friends are on Skype, it is ineffective to migrate to another program. I’ve used Voip Buster also – and I don’t recommend it – bad sound quality. I’m paying a little bit more for Skype Out, but it always works like a charm.

    17. der says:

      another great alternatives:

      mo-call
      vopium
      jaxtr
      vbuzzer

and fully voip the best are:

      voip.ms
      callcentric.com
      callwithus.com

    18. E says:

Skype has been OK for me. I’m a Mac user and knowing that Microsoft bought Skype, my fears are: 1) Eventho Skype is free, has very little ads and MS is already talking about spaming free users with VIDEO ads. This will actually make me drift away from Skype like I did from ooVoo. 2) I’m not sure MS will continue to allow Skype on Macs. So IF I move away from Skype I will be faced with losing my contacts (that use Windows). iChat is a very nice alternative. I actually noticed the video and audio are more robust and clear on iChat but… not available for Windows. Yep… I guess we will just wait and see. Thanks for the post BTW. Very nice!

    19. Lez says:

I use skype quite a bit & it works very well, so why would I want to change. Well I use a Macbook (Need I say more about M-soft), I am worried about what will happen in the future, with adverts & support for OSX etc.

    20. srini says:

LuciTalk-MP with 10-way group video chat and HD point-to-point video, is a great alternative to Skype … try it out for free!

    21. I have used Skype since its inseption but latelly all the messages that appear it becomes anoying. That is why I am looking for an alternative…

    22. Arzhan says:

oovoo is one of the best alternates to Skype

    23. Stefan says:

I have Amivox.com for a month now and I like the service. Less complicated than Skype an rates seems to be lower.
